Hospitality in the area around the National Park
Retz Region (Retzer Land)
Together with Hardegg, the smallest town in Austria, the National Park Thayatal is part of the Retz Region. Six communes at the border between the Wein- and Waldviertel areas constitute this region characterized by "enjoying wine”, "celebrating festivals”, "cycling” and "National Park Thayatal”. The communes of Hardegg, Pulkau, Retz, Retzbach, Schrattenthal, Zellerndorf as well as some businesses have formed an association aiming at improving quality in the region and showing off its products.
Inter-National-Park Region Thayatal
Quality partners vouch for qualitative offers and support nature protection in the National Park and the regional nature parks. Products range from honey, juices, marmalades and teas to top-quality liqueurs. Numerous restaurants and accommodation businesses adhere to the quality criteria and offer regional products.
In the national park shop you will find a large range of products from our regional quality partners, such as juices, jams, original poppy cakes from the Waldviertel (Mohnzelten), herbal teas and liqueurs. In the café-restaurant Thayatal we also prepare our food using fresh products from our partner businesses.
