National park... intensive!

Wanted! Young natural scientists

Would you like to go on a discovery tour in the National Park? On seven afternoons in the year, you can go and look for "mysterious pincer knights?, cut a tree with the national park forester or learn about magic herbs, explore the watercourses of the national park and follow the trail of animals in winter. Of course, there are also some surprises!

Children from the national park region, aged between 9 and 12, can participate in the "training? for young natural scientists. After two years, the natural scientists become national park checkers, who will be allowed to spend two exciting week-ends in the National Park.

Junior Ranger

You are young! You are wild! Daily routine is boring!
Then you should join the junior rangers: this young gang supports the national park during hands-on assignments in the areas of nature management, visitors' information and observation of wild fauna. National park rangers look after the group and reveal their survival tricks: orientation with and without a compass, reading maps, the art of lighting fires, building a simple shelter or learning to recognize edible plants. After all, team spirit is required when crossing a river, on a Mohawk walk on a rope and during volley-ball matches.
Did this put you in the mood for spending a week in Hardegg? Yes, then let's go!

The Junior Ranger Programme is aimed at young people aged 13 to 15. As part of a one-week holiday camp, they can take a look behind the scenes of the National Park and they will be involved in the concrete work of a protected area. And of course, they will have fun!

This initiative is under the patronage of Europarc, the Federation of European Nature and National Parks, which coordinates the European Junior Ranger Network and organizes yearly international camps In which Austrian junior rangers may also take part.
